About this event

ICAP INC (Intergenerational Community Alliances and Programs Inc.) along with the Support Team of the Historic Johnson House, would like to invite you to a virtual screening of the documentary “Invisible Warriors: African American Women in World War ll”, by historian and filmmaker “Gregory S Cooke”

This compelling critically acclaimed documentary chronicles the amazing stories of the first African American women to work in industry and government administrative service. Invisible Warriors is an unforgettable conversation among Black "Rosie the Riveters" who share their wartime memories, recounting their battles against racism and sexism at home and Nazism abroad.

They represent 600,000 women like themselves who overcame the Great Depression, Jim Crow, sexual degradation, and workplace discrimination to break gender and racial barriers in the workplace. "Black Rosies" were part of a sisterhood of 20 million women who built America’s “arsenal of democracy.” Without all of these patriotic women, the United States could not have won World War II.
