This fairy tale is inspired by the story of Bessie Coleman, the first black woman to hold a pilot's license in the world.
When Bessie was growing up, no one could have imagined that a girl from a humble family would get out of the cotton fields and become a pilot. But with the help of her best friend Bloony, Bessie used her courage and determination to make her dream come true!
Queen Girls is a collection of stories of real women turned into fairy tales. Our mission is to inspire young girls (and boys) to dream big! Each book in the collection combines reality with elements of fantasy, captivating the attention of our youngsters while at the same time showing them the power of determination. Our Queens show our little ones that anything is possible if we set our minds to it!
Queen Girls is a vehicle for us to raise awareness about the importance of the content we consume and we read to our children. Reading is a great tool to inspire our kids. Through reading, we not only teach them vocabulary, but also instill empowering ideas and perspectives that will support their dreams. Telling them new stories will hopefully change theirs!
